Definitely in the top 10 of all Final Fantasy games.

In terms of amount of time I sank into it, it would fall in 3rd place behind VI and XV. Not that I don't love them all.

Nostalgia wise... I'd have to go with quite a few between Banjo & Kazooie, Spyro, Super Smash Bros Melee, Halo, GTA Vice City, Gameboy Pokemon, etc

Shadow Of The Colossus would have to be my all time favorite, though. As far as being immersed in the world, difficulty, and all around entertainment. If you never played this game on PS2 you've seriously missed out. There was absolutely 0 carebearing, or hand-holding in this game. You had to figure out every scenario to defeat each monster on your own. I remember spending so much time reading through strategy guides that I picked up from the local grocery store, or when X-Play did a tips video every now and then. Although it was singleplayer, hanging with friends trying to figure out how to take down each monster was a blast. The physics, graphics, and sound was top of the line for the time. Such a simple concept, but done beautifully.

I heard it's on the PlayStation Store. If you haven't played it, I highly recommend trying it out.

Zelda II on the nintendo.

Expansive world, high difficulty, classic story, easter eggs, gold cartridge, what's not to like?

Runners up: Ultima Online, Goldeneye, NBA Jam (arcade), Resident Evil, Dark Souls, Payday 2, Bioshock, Rainbow 6, The Walking Dead (telltale).

It's definitely hard to separate nostalgia from your pick. Not so much the best game but the game you had the best time playing.

I have to go with EA NHL.

The year makes little difference.....even before online gaming...NO game has created interaction with others like this series for me. Right back to the boys drinking beers in the basement apartment..... drawing teams out of a hat..... to play head to head on the old tube TV.
