Default Tony Hawk: Ride

No more controller, no more couch, get up and skate.

http://thride.com/

The peripheral that is REQUIRED to play this game, actually sounds kind of cool. You can actually see the "board" on the link above.

Besides having to turn and trick with an actual board (without wheels), there are infrared sensors that will read your foot motion and/or hands.

So for instance, to get moving, you swing your foot past the sensors to mimick pushing off on a skateboard. To grab the board, you place your hands over the sensors.

Should be interesting. I can't see myself being any good with this game, but I'll definitely give it a whirl (maybe literally).

very interesting, so in order to kick flip, you really have to do that with that board?

I can see many a coffee table being shattered with this one.

The OXM article, which I skimmed as well, says:

Man, doing 180s and 360s is going to burn a hole in a lot of carpets.

I have watched a few videos about this including an interview with Tony Hawk. You don't actually do the tricks so to speak with it. You do lean and can spin the board 180 but you don't lift it off the ground or anything crazy like that.

Watching guys do it in the videos it reminded me a lot of a Wii fit board. I mean it is almost identical in the way it works with the exception of the sensor on the side.

I don't know what to think of this yet... I think I need to see some reviews first. The thought of having to stand up while playing sounds like far too much work for me.
