Apple Yosemite

OSX 10.10 installed the Beta tonight and so far it's pretty damn slick, I had iTunes 12 crash on me a couple times but thats to be expected.

the color Palette is an interesting choice, seems cartoonish or Cell Shaded to me.

Icons are crisp and everything is pretty quick so far, its a little sandbox play area for now and will just tinker.

anyone else get in to the public beta?

I have it as well but honestly I do not see a huge difference.

It's not reinventing the wheel, minor tweaks to improve the over feel of the OS.

Deeper integration with iCloud and a more robust user experience, I'm not upgrading to iCloud drive yet since I'm still running iOS 7 and it is not backwards compatible yet.

I rely too much on the current system with Mavericks and iOS 7 to tempt fate.

The new notification system is great, having everything right there like iOS is welcomed!

Safari is better for sure, more streamlined and responsive.

Mail is at least useable finally.

iTunes 12 looks ok, I'm not syncing anything to it since I only partitioned 30 GB for Yosemite and music alone would eat that up lol

Every beta release they are adding tweaks and fixing things, whatever you don't like fill out a feedback form and send it in. That's what being in a beta is all about, not having access to it before everyone else. The input you provide will shape the final build for everyone no matter how small or big.

I get nervous with beta, also if my recording interface doesn't have the drivers yet I'm screwed. I usually wait about a month after release

what is it you want to do Walt?

most things can be done quickly and easily for free...

start with Disk Utility (use spotlight search ((magnifying glass upper right hand of screen)) to find Disk Utility)

Select the drive you want to work on and select "Repair permissions"

if you are looking to "clean" your drive or free up some space, Gemini is great for finding duplicate files taking up space

Disk Doctor https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/disk...55970963?mt=12 is pretty efficient as well

Disk Diag https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/disk...72206759?mt=12 is similar but runs faster
