Leafs fire everyone

Everyone except Steve Staios, who did great work with Gardiner and Rielly. Here's hoping the rest don't let the door hit their ass on the way out.

I heard Dubass and Hunter are also remaining, which makes sense because they were Shanahan hirings.

I still think the Leafs are going to go after (and get) Babcock at the end of the season...but it won't be to coach, I think he'll be the next GM. I don't think he'd come here just to be a coach when he has that job in Detroit already but to move up and become GM, that's much more enticing.

Depends on how enticing money is. It's not the x factor for everyone, but i don't doubt Toronto will overspend to get premium candidates at each position.

Money won't be a factor. They always overspend, it's what they do best.

Babcock has gone on record as stating he wants to be the best of coach of his generation. I don't think he's done coaching yet, and I hope he stays in Detroit, no matter how badly the Leafs need him.

Bob McKenzie is reporting that Edmonton and Buffalo are at the top of his list. That would certainly be in line with being the best, because pulling one of them off the scrap heap would be HUGE. It's also why Toronto is less of a good fit - Babcock doesn't want to be a GM, but likes having input. In Toronto, he won't get any freedom to work.

Makes sense. :agree:

Well, sometimes the weirdest explanation is the best. Mike Babcock has just signed an 8 year deal with Toronto worth approximately ALL the money.
