Man I feel bad for him and his career... He was a monster starting out but never could shake the injury bug... Sad to me to see players that just cant get their body to stay up with them, when they have so much potential.. He just could of been a hall of famer.... Never been a Cubs fan but I can respect this..

A Little of This and That

Hey fellas...I know there are a lot of posts around about leagues here and how they are a reflection of the sites motto...but I just felt like creating a new thread today over my morning coffee so one would be on the front page for a little.....we have a few new sign-ups to XBS over the last couple of weeks and I must say the introductions from these guys are spot on.

I REALLY want to qualify this post with the fact that the leaders(Admins/Mods/Commish/Vets) here at the site totally understand that our approach to gaming is not for everyone and are fine with that. Heck there was probably a time when a lot of us may have been in a spot where we didn't really factor our opponents experience into our gaming equation at all. There are other leagues out there that are more competitive and have a different focus and I think that is great....they are needed for people, be a pretty boring world if we all were the same.

What you will find here at XBS are leagues where we really expect you to be asking yourself........How would it feel to be my opponent?. Now this is a bit of a generalization and I really don't want to put words in the Commissioner's mouths.......we do talk in the forums and I feel pretty safe in saying that this is a common theme in all leagues here.

I do want to speak directly to the XBSHL as this is the league I have the most experience in. We will be having a draft for the up and coming season soon and I wanted to get a few things out there that some of the newer guys can expect to see in this league...may help offer a little perspective.

First you can expect to be involved in many humorous XBL chats during games....there are so many funny guys here at the site that is truly comedic gold during some of the games...be prepared to laugh out loud over the course of the season.

You can also expect to be treated with respect by your teammates and your opponents. We are quite diligent in this regard as we think it is paramount that we do everything possible to help facilitate a positive gaming experience for people who choose to invest their leisure time in the leagues here.

Finally there will be an onus placed on you to use our site's motto as the lens in which you play your games through. There is information in the XBSHL Stickies that outline exactly what I mean by this.....generally we like to have great competitions... but there will be a set of parameters in which you need to function during this. There are many...many reasons for this. Play hard but with respect.

If anyone has any questions about things please feel free to ask any of the leagues commissioners or vets around here....people are really friendly. Also anything directly related to the upcoming XBSHL Hockey season I'll provide a list of the team owners.......how could you go wrong playing in a league with these eight guys.

Hello, my name is Matt and I live in Barrie, ON (Canada). I have multiple friends who play in the league and they pointed me to it. I played several seasons in the VHL but just found that the maturity level was too young, and the level of play was a little too serious. I am all for competition but would like to have a good time as well, and hope the league will give me that. Thank you.

Hello, My name is Greg and I live in Greenville, North Carolina. I am a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan for about 12 years now. When not working, love to spend time with my 9 year old son that plays goalie in hockey and catcher in baseball. I have played VHL but wanted something different on the adult level of play. I have several friends that play in this league and they told me to try out. Hope to be aboard soon.

Best COMEDY series ever!

This was being discussed by some and thought, let's get everyone's opinion in here....

In your eyes, what is/was the best comedy series on TV of all time....

For me, it's Seinfeld, easily.....I've probably seen every episode at least 3 times if not more since it started running. To this day, I'll still watch reruns of it when I catch it....

And with network TV cancelling shows like there's no tomorrow, I don't know if we'll ever see a series run that long again.....

XBS Accents

So I'm reading through threads today, and it dawned on me that I read people's comments in their accents. I noticed it while reading Cowboys comments in the minecraft thread. He had a big review of the game and as I'm reading it in my head I realize I'm doing so in Cowboy's southern accent :rofl: Not only am I doing that, but I'm even adding his signature laugh at the end of sentences!

Then it dawns on me, I do this ALL the time when I read the threads here. If I've played with you enough, and know your voice well then I read your comments in your voice in my head. I think I do it more so with guys who have what I consider thick accents (I have been told numerous times mine can be quite brutal if I let it fly)

Especially those with the more Southern and Canadian accents. Whiskey, Bubbaman, Bodget, Cowboy, Violent, Makkak, Drugmonkey (Brooklynish/Long Islandish/Jersey shoreish) :rofl:

I just thought it was hilarious. Anyone else do this?? Or is it time to "seek help Amonte"??

Buying a Desktop

So I currently have an Acer laptop that is 3 years old. It runs great still, however, it can't run games due to it having integrated graphics. I use it only for web, pictures, and media. With Diablo III out now and most of my family playing it I have decided to finally get a desktop. What do you guys recommend? I plan to stick with Acer since I have had nothing but good things with my laptop, so please don't reply telling me to get an Apple or anything like that. I'm more so asking advice on specs. I found this rig for $490; look legit for gaming?
